Hogeschool van Amsterdam is the largest hogeschool located in the Amsterdam area. The institute has good relations with the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the two are planning to merge into a university and hogeschool of Amsterdam. The HvA has merged with HES Amsterdam a few years ago. This brought some concern to the students that were studying under the name of HES (only) since they claimed that their diploma would lose value and recognition.
