Civil Status: Married – no kids

Position: Head of the International Section and Programme Manager of IBMS

Working at HES since: 2002

Live in: Amsterdam

Nationality: 100% Dutch

Supporter of: Ajax (She used to play football and go to every game with her father and even to the trainings. In one of those trainings, Frank Rijkaard was sent to the side, where she was. So she and Rijkaard kicked the ball together therefore she can proudly say that she played football with Frank Rijkaard).

Background info:

Studied Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). She obtained a PHD in Economics at the UvA including 2 years of study in the University of Wharton, Philadelphia.

Most relevant work experience: Assistant Professor at the University of Rotterdam and then she joined HES Amsterdam in 2002.

Wanna work for HES forever? No, she is actually leaving HES Amsterdam at the end of this semester. She will be working as a Programme Manager in Logistics where a research center for the HvA will be set up.

Like HES? “Yes, a lot. It is a great place where you can see the openness of cultures and the equal treatment with each other. One time I was taking an intake interview to a student that didn’t show any interest about studying; he wasn’t sure about what he wanted. His Dutch and English weren’t that great either. Anyway he started to study IT. After a few years, I received a call from one of my colleagues telling me that this student successfully graduated and was working for a big company as Head of the IT department. I like to see the progress of students”

Anecdotes? “When HES was in the old building at Wibaustraat, one class organized a “night with darts”. They had everything smoothly organized and a day before the event, there was fire in the school and the only place completely damaged was where this class had the dart board. I felt really bad because I had to tell them what happened. Anyway they rented a pub instead”.
