You need to know that Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities of the world for its style, the canals, the culture, museums, artists, organization, etc.

Why Amsterdam rocks

  • Amsterdam is the most known city of Holland, name any other city of Holland and nobody will ever know it unless you say “near Amsterdam” and then they’ll get the picture.

Getting around Amsterdam – TIPS!

Here is the basic info you NEED TO KNOW about getring around Amsterdam. Cheapest way of travelling in Amsterdam?? Wanna know some prices?? Read on!

By bicycle
I would certainly recommend anyone who spends more than a few weeks in Amsterdam to buy a bike. It is the best and easiest way to get around the city centre. However, you might find it too far to cycle to the HES Amsterdam since it is not quite in the city centre.

.
Public transport

You can choose between taking the metro, tram or bus to travel around Amsterdam. The cheapest and easiest way to buy your ticket is by getting a ‘Strippenkaart’ in advance, they are sold at tobacco shops, post offices, GVB offices and in machines at the bigger stations (costs €6,70 for 15 strips). The strippenkaart works like this: you gotta check from and to which zone you are travelling on the map displayed at every tram/bus stop. You stamp your card (strippenkaart) for the number of zones you are travelling through plus one. Usually a trip within the centre of Amsterdam is within 1 zone which means 2 ’strips’. Furthermore, you may use the same stamp for one hour enabling you to transfer to another bus, tram or metro.

.

Taxi
You may want to get a cab to bring you home after a wild party night in Amsterdam. Plenty of Taxis will be waiting for you near Leidseplein, the Dam, and central station. Keep in mind that the starting price is €8,5 for the first 2 km!! You may wanna share the cab with a few friends…

Night bus
Another and cheaper alternative for the late/early hours is the night bus which charges €3,5 euro including transfers within 1,5 hour. Again you should check out the maps at the bus stop to find out which one stops near your home in Amsterdam.

.
Tuk-Tuk or Fietstaxi (Taxi bike)
No no, we are not in Bangkok. We have brand new tuk-tuks all the way from Thailand driving though the streets of Amsterdam!!! Tariffs vary from different zones and start from euro €3,50. The price of a weelertaxi or fietstaxi are easier to calculate its 1 euro per person for every 3 minutes and the minimum cost are €2,5 each.
