Stockholm Exchange
Gonna be on exchange next semester? Check out the exchange interviews and stories we have from HES Amsterdam exchange students all over the world! This time we did an interview with Mabel, she is IBMS student at HES and went on exchange to Stockholm University in Sweden.

What do you think of the level of the Stockholm University compared with the HES Amsterdam?

The school was good especially because the level of most students was higher than that of students from the HES Amsterdam because most of them where studying for a Master degree. On the other hand, the teachers where not always that good.

How are the courses in Sweden? any interesting ones?

I mainly took financial institution management, real estate management, international economics, strategic management. Especially real estate management was very interesting. Nearly every subject has a project, so far more projects which makes the courses easier if you just study. The difficulty of the exams was of course depending on the different teachers, mostly four or five big exam questions for which the previous exam could be found on the schools intranet. (Just like you can find mock exams of HES exams on iStudyatHES.com.)

How was the University building and campus?

The Stockholm University has a main campus with a big student center, library, food shop, computer rooms, book store, and a big restaurant is in another building nearby. In the restaurant you can find all sorts of different food including Chinese food. Compared with restaurants outside campus, this on campus restaurant is cheaper. But remember food is more expensive in Sweden than Holland. Some buildings look historic inside with lots of narrow, deep, flexible aisles.

How where the cost of living? Did you stay at a nice place?

The place I lived was good. I definitely liked it, big enough for me. about 300 euro per month. For the rest all living expenses are more expensive than Amsterdam I forgot the exact price but generalyy the price is 1/3 higher than in Amsterdam.

How was Sweden itself? Any nice things to see or do?

Sweden looks more natural , the place i lived has lots of high trees and small hills. the view is very beautiful when you climb to a much higher place. the highest place to see the view is not far from the city center.

Any recommendations for future Stockholm University Exchange students from the HES?

Compared to HES you spend a lot less time in school. if you like to have your own time, you might choose this school.

Stockholm University or HES Amsterdam?
