What’s up with HES, HvA and UvA????

HES Amsterdam (Hogeschool voor Economische Studies), HvA (Hogeschool van Amsterdam) and the UvA (Universiteit van Amsterdam) are the three main education organizations of Amsterdam and one of the best of Holland, Europe and the world.

These three organizations form the Amsterdam Schools of Economics and Business (AmSEB) which is a unique partnership bringing together all the courses in Economics and Business at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) and the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) college of higher education, as well as the research activities of the UvA’s Faculty of Economics and Business. By providing transitional programmes and additional courses, this arrangement makes it easier for talented students to transfer between the various types of first degree – academic and vocational – offered by the different schools and to move directly into Master’s programmes in Business Economics, Accountancy and Control, Fiscal Economics and Business Studies after graduation.

How? For example you can do your first year at HES Amsterdam and then pass directly to the University of Amsterdam without doing the preparation year; you can study an economic study in Dutch and do a minor in English at HES Amsterdam and you can follow a master programme at the UvA once you finish your studies at HES Amsterdam (only when you do the academic minor). You can also study economics at HES and also follow, for instance, some psychology subjects at the UvA.

Not only study programmes are combined but also infrastructure. You can also go to the library of any of these schools and get books, study, use the computers and use the toilets for free. (you have to show your HvA pass of course… well, sometimes… or maybe never.)

Well, a lot of good things that you should use and many ppl don’t use because they don’t know they can! So go for it!
