OV Kaart goes on holidays

From today onward it is not possible to use the OV kaart anymore until the 16 of August. The only thing you can get is discount  of 40% on any ticket . BE CAREFUL!! if you don’t have a valid ticket, you’ll get a fine of €35 plus the cost of the ticket. If that happens to you, I’d try to negotiate with the controller but most of the time they have no mercy.

It is pretty lame that we can’t use this card during the summer, because it doesn’t matter that it is summer, I’m still student and I still don’t have money to pay the tickets… right???

What’s the OV Kaart?

When you are Dutch student you get this card to travel for free in any means of transport (bus, metro, train, tram). If you are not Dutch but you are from an EU country and you work 20 hours per week, you can apply to get this card too. Get one HERE. (in Dutch)

So, for the next month stay home or get a bike or pay the ticket!

PS: I got Yolanthe’s card, it fell from hers purse when she came to the iStudyatHES.com party!
