After doing some research on different Dutch and international educational webpages, I have found some interesting results about the ranking positions of HES Amsterdam, UvA and HvA compared with other business schools in Holland and the world.
The Dutch rankings are based on the opinions of students and teachers. The organizations that carried out the research and published the results are well-known and reliable companies such as Elsevier and Keuzegids.nl. The information of the international rankings was collected from well-known global organizations such as the Topuniversities.com and Times Higher University Ranking.
I want to point out one thing before going into the tables. As explained before, it is assumed that in international rankings HES Amsterdam is being considered as part of OR actually the University of Amsterdam.
Dutch reputation of HES Amsterdam (Ranking)
According to this ranking list published by Elsevier, HES Amsterdam ranks as the best school to study International Business and Languages (IBL) in 2005 (Click on the image to enlarge). Original ranking list HERE. (in Dutch – pdf file)
HES Amsterdam is part of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) which ranks 4th in the national ranking. On the first place is the Hogeschool van Zuyd. (Click on the image to enlarge).

University of Amsterdam (UvA) Ranking in Holland
Elsevier also published a ranking list of universities and the criteria is based on the opinions of the teachers. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) was chosen as the 3rd best university of the Netherlands in 2007 after Universiteit van Utrecht (1st) and Universiteit van Leiden (2nd) BUT under the category “Broad” universities. Then you have the category “Specific” and “Technique” universities.
Check out the original ranking table HERE.
This rankings are from the years 2005-2007, for more updated information you have to buy the official report that cost around 25 euros (ridiculous, why should we pay?)
International Universities Rankings
According to the Times Higher University Ranking, the University of Amsterdam ranks 48th in the world top 200. UvA improved its position in the last years since in 2003 rank over the 100th position. UvA is also the best ranked Dutch university. The second one is the University of Delft in the position 63rd , Leiden University third in the 84th position and Utrecht University in the 89th position.
According to Topuniversities.com, UvA ranks 12th in the European ranking. The UvA website claims that they are in the 4th position but I couldn’t find it in the official release of the ranking neither in any other place on the web that confirms that. Anyway, that is almost impossible due to the amount of BIG universities in UK that rank always better than the UvA. (Click on the image to enlarge)

Wow, I think the HES/UvA ranking position is pretty good, UK of course occupies the higher positions but still 12th in Europe, that is pretty awesome.

@Linda
Ranking of HES can only be found in Holland but when it comes to the international perspective UvA is the one to have under consideration. HES is part of HvA which is part of UvA so that’s why when you look to international rankings you should look for UvA and not for HES. Still the HES is a worthless school, too many things unorganized, some course are given on a poor level and cheating is still doable
The time tables are a mess and the projects arent explained well, sux sux sux,
Is this because it merged with the HVA? maybe but it isnt getting better

I agree with Jelle. DOT.
When I chose this school, I didnt choose for the HVA, I choose the Hes.
I think the merge with the hva really sucks, while I cant not understand why, forfucksake, they did it. On the other hand, the two CEO, who left after the deal, would have received lot of money.
Would like to see in the future that the HES will have more freedom and will oporate (more) indepently.
My fear is that in a few years our HES letters on the building will drop down, but im afraid, when look realistic, thats going to happen.

This is a lie, HES is an HBO school, it’s not a real university.
UvA is a totally different institute!
